November, 2024 – Millions of people can’t afford their Medicare out-of-pocket costs. Help is available, but many of the ones most in need are not aware of the benefit programs and/or how to enroll.
MIPPA (Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers) funds programs like Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Missouri SHIP to help low income Medicare recipients navigate and to enroll in free programs that save them hundreds of dollars a month and dramatically improves their quality of life and ability to remain independent.
MIPPA funding expires on 12/31/24.
Once the drama around the election ends, Congress needs to take important action before the year ends!
MIPPA has strong bipartisan support and unites all parties in efforts to support vulnerable older adults and adults with disabilities.
Without this funding, an important tool will be taken away from trusted community organizations that support older adults, like Missouri’s Area Agencies on Aging and Missouri SHIP.
Earlier this year, Missourians and others across the country raised their voices – and Congress acted quickly. Now it is time for Congress to act again!
Benefits outreach and enrollment works—but without continued federal funding, low-income adults on Medicare will be left behind, unable to afford their basic needs.
Please prevent this from happening! Raise your voice!
Contact Congress now – and repeat after the election to be sure your voice is heard.
Remind Congress of the importance of supporting low-income older adults and adults with disabilities to find and receive assistance that can help them to afford their prescription drugs and doctor visits.

Dear [Senator/Representative LAST NAME]:
Please help older adults in Missouri by ensuring that critical funding for MIPPA (Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers) is protected. MIPPA funds are due to expire on 12/31/24. Please take quick action to protect this important funding that supports low-income older adults and adults with disabilities.
MIPPA provides essential funding to Area Agencies on Aging, State Health Insurance Programs (SHIPs) and Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) that helps vulnerable adults find support to remain in their own homes.
This funding does not raise costs. Instead of expanding benefits, MIPPA helps vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare receive the assistance they are already eligible for. Without this funding, low-income older adults on Medicare will be left behind, unable to afford basic health care costs. Please ensure that MIPPA is protected before the year ends. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely, [NAME, address, etc.]
