Focus on Aging Series

Learn more about Missouri’s ten Area Agencies on Aging in our Focus on Aging Series. Geared towards Missouri Legislators and their staff, these sessions are open to all who are interested in learning about how AAAs are funded, how they support local Senior Centers, and the many services available throughout Missouri.

Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of the Elderly and Disabled

Missouri’s Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline responds to reports of abuse, bullying, neglect, and financial exploitation. Find out more at Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

To report elder abuse: Call: 1-800-392-0210

Profile of Older Americans

See the Administration for Community Living’s 2021 Profile of Older Adults in America. People ages 65+ are expected to represent 22% of the population by 2040.

Caregivers

According to a recent study published by the AARP and the National Alliance for Family Caregiving, more than one in five Americans (21.3%) have been a caregiver to an adult or child with special needs at some point in the past 12 months.

Dementia Friendly USA

Dementia Friends USA is part of a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Anyone can be a Dementia Friend – we all have a part to play in creating dementia friendly communities!

Healthy Aging

Chronic health conditions are often part of the aging process. However, learning to manage these conditions can help older adults stay healthy, active and engaged in their communities.

Helpful Resources

For the first time in US history, older adults are projected to outnumber children by 2034. This presents opportunities as well as challenges. Recognizing this turning point can provide the catalyst needed to revisit policies and practices to support all ages.
