August 7, 2024
Senators Hawley and Schmitt and their Senate peers heard your voice!
Thanks to your quick advocacy, the Senate did NOT adopt the House’s proposed cuts to senior center and home delivered meals!
The Senate Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) Subcommittee did not propose any funding cuts to OAA programs – most proposed funding mirrors FY 2024 funding levels.
Thank you for letting your Senators know that Missourians do not want to see cuts to senior centers or to home delivered meals for seniors!
We are Not Done Yet!
It is important to remember these are not the final FY 2025 funding levels – but simply the proposed levels from the Senate. Members of Congress are back in their districts and states for August recess. With your Representatives and Senators being home this month, now is a great time to engage them in person to remind them of why funding for OAA programs is critical!

The Older American’s Act (OAA) serves as the backbone for delivering services to Missouri’s adults 60 and older as well as adults with disabilities. Our state’s rapidly aging population underscores the urgent need for these vital services
OAA funding empowers Missouri’s ten Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to deliver essential programs that promote the health, independence, and well-being of our seniors and their caregivers.
Protecting OAA funding is imperative to ensuring Missouri’s older adults can age with dignity and remain active members of their communities.
We thank you for supporting Missouri’s older adults, and we urge you to:
- Prioritize the needs of Missouri’s older adults.
- Significantly increase investments in the Older Americans Act.
