Senior Growth & Development Legislation Gets Initial Senate Approval

Legislation that would create a new Senior Growth and Development Fund got one step closer to approval this week when the Missouri Senate took up HB 337 that was given approval by the Missouri House last week.

The Senate committee allowed committee testimony and bill presentation, then discussed the bill in executive session and approved the measure unanimously. The bill is now on the Senate calendar for Third Reading and could win approval before the session ends on May 17.

Rep. Swan presented the House bill. Sen Sater spoke in favor — and Senator O’Laughlin spoke highly of the bill and the AAAs. MA4 presented testimony in favor of the bill.

Attached are materials that might help you discuss this bill with your local legislator. Similar legislation has been proposed in the past, but this year, we have a new group of legislators, a new Governor and a new Lt. Governor – all of whom have indicated support for issues affecting seniors in Missouri.

Here are links to information that can help you – and your representatives – evaluate and debate this legislation on its merits.
