Proposals To Cut Senior Programs Moves To MO House For Debate

St. Louis Post-Dispatch – The Missouri House is taking up several proposals that will cut many senior programs in significant ways. Among the proposals being debated are:

Changing Medicaid eligibility laws that would affect 21,000 Missouri seniors who require nursing home or in-home care
Eliminating tax credits for seniors and diabled individuals who rent their homes
Changing eligibility for the MORx Prescription Drugg Assistance program

Some senior advocates have proposed taking the cost savings from these budget cuts and establishing a Missouri Senior Services Fund that ostensibly provides help for the same seniors who would be affected by the cuts, although that trade-off has not been endorsed by senior advocates.
