Open Enrollment For Medicare Part D Opens October 15th

This year, open enrollment for the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan opens on October 15, 2017 and runs through December 7, 2017. Enrollment during this period allows you to choose a prescription drug plan that will be in effect for the calendar year 2018. If you are satisfied with your current plan, and if that plan or your medications have not changed substantially during this past year, you are not required to change plans and your current Part D plan will be automatically renewed.

If, however, your health situation has changed or the formulary used by your current plan has changed – or if you are new to the system – you need to select a plan that will best meet your needs and budget. The staff of the Area Agencies on Aging can assit you in reviewing your current plan, as can your pharmacy or other insurance professional. You also have the option to visit the official Medicare website for online assistance.

Don’t delay. This is your opportunity to select the prescription drug coverage that best suits your needs for 2018. But, you only have until December 7 to make your choice. Make it a good one.
