UPDATE: MORx Prescription Plan Extended For Some Seniors

The Missouri Department of Social Services recently notified thousands of Missourians that the MORx prescription drug assistance program wouls expire as of June 30, 2017. At this time, the notice applies to approximately 60,000 Missouri seniors who were eligible for the program under established Medicare guidelines. For people who were eligible for the MORx program under BOTH Medicare AND Medicaid guidelines, the situation was less clear.

This situation has now been clarified. The Governor has signed SB 139, a bill that extends the MORx program, but with new rules for eligibility. The entire MORx program was scheduled to expire in August 2017. Greitens’ action will extend the MORx program until at least 2022 for people who meet both Medicare AND Medicaid eligibility guidelines.
