2015 Show Me Summit On Aging and Health Off To Successful Start

This year’s Show Me Summit on Aging and Health got off to a successful start at the Lodge of Four Seasons convention center in Lake Ozark on Monday, August 17. The Summit opened with a Tax Levy Board meeting in the morning and a general plenary session dedicated to observing the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act. The Older Americans Act was a precursor to the many senior programs that exist throughout the United States today and was fundamental to the establish the system of Area Agencies on Aging across the nation.

The day continued with special seminars and training sessions dedicated to everything from navigating the Medicare system to stress management to advocating for senior programs in challenging situations.

The Summit continues on Tuesday with  a morning plenary session dedicated to aging issues, a look at elder abuse services and protection and practical management skills for service providers.

The conference will conclude on Wednesday, August 19 with a discussion of the role AAAs will play in the future of managed care.
