Missouri Legislature Convenes Again January 6, 2016

mo-sealThe Missouri Legislature will be back in session starting January 6, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Among  issues already being mentioned as priorities for the Republican-led House and Senate are: new voter ID requirements; road funding proposals; and a renewed debate over funding for higher education institutions. 2016 is also an election year during which Missouri voters will re-elect or elect new members of the Missouri House of Representatives, half of the Missouri Senate; a new Governor (Governor Nixon is prevented from running for re-election); and other top government leaders including U.S. Senate, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer and Secretary of State. All U.S. Congressional seats are also up for grabs.

It is unclear how issues such as Medicaid reform, funding for senior services and health insurance initiatives will fare during the new legislative session.
